Facilitating Industry Placements: New Student Handbook

 

In collaboration with our industry experts, we are proud to share a new student handbook as part of our collaboration to assist develop resources.

The Structured Workplace Learning Program Student Handbook is a comprehensive guide to the world of work in advanced manufacturing, suitable for students from second semester Year 10 to the end of Year 12.

The handbook aims to assist students during every step of their placement. It comprises industry-nominated assessment techniques and facilitates the collection of evidence required for accreditation.

To date, 150 students in Townsville have signed up to do a 20-day placement in industry, giving them 2 QCE points.

STEAM education plays a vital role in advanced manufacturing. Work placements not only offer students the chance to demonstrate an array of skills and knowledge not commonly possible in a school setting but logging these aptitudes in an accredited document is highly valued by future employers.
