Surat Basin STEAM students design the future

The dust is still settling after an exciting student ‘Designathon’ in Dalby recently. STEAM students from schools across the Surat Basin region came together to form teams and challenge each other to design solutions using advanced manufacturing technologies.

We teamed up with manufacturing tech experts Arc Hardware to deliver the event. The process students followed to create their concepts mirrored what ambitious innovators do in many industry start-up environments. They pitched ideas, created teams, validated the chosen idea with business, created a prototype and then presented it to industry (i.e. the judges)!

The event program stretched over three days, and brought friends, family, representatives from local businesses, government and media together to support students.

So the big questions after the event was what did they create and who won!? Hold onto your hats, because these students sure know how to think creatively and out-side-the-box.

Jump into the team projects to find these answers:

  1. Waterproof Boots

  2. Assembly Desk

  3. Re-Tube

  4. Operation Ibis

  5. Fresh Days

  6. Easy Diesel

Without our industry judges, student mentor and event sponsor, this would not have been possible. A big “thank you” — from all us.
