A Farewell from Jules McMurtrie

Dear Network Partners,

It’s been an absolute privilege to perform the Gateway to Industry Schools Program Manager for Advanced Manufacturing (GISP AM) role for the past five years. During my tenancy, I have both led and learnt. While there were many aspects of the role I love, my top five memories that I am grateful for as I step down from my full-time GISP AM role are:

  1. To the great network of passionate teachers and principals who have inspired me every day to work hard for Queensland students. Thank you.

  2. To the great network of passionate manufacturing experts willing to help and support young people. Thank you for remembering we were all young once and learning to push outside your comfort zones to make better, more inclusive workplaces for all.

  3. Witnessing the amazing technology pioneers transitioning to 4.0, and the opportunities for Australian products to the global market. It is so exciting to watch this unfold.

  4. The learning opportunities from connecting to over 20+ industries experiencing advanced manufacturing and finding the meaningful pathways available to working in them.

  5. The supportive network surrounding the GISP AM program and QMI make me truly grateful. To QMI and ICN, the Queensland Reference Group for Manufacturing and Engineering (QRG), DESBT, and the GISP AM working group, thank you for the leadership and support over the past 5 years. To our Small and Mighty team who tell our stories; Tara James, thank you.

QMI has several key leaders who you’ll meet as the GISP AM schools network expands to 42 in 2022: Lachlan Wright, the new Program Manager; Kate Robertson, our GISP AM Administration legend; and Hari Anandan, Finance and Administration Manager. Please make them feel as welcome to the team as you did for me.

We look forward to a bigger and better 2022. If you missed the highlights from 2021, check them out.

Yours in advancing manufacturing,

Jules
